Some songs’ lyrics don’t require a lot of explanation. This may be one of those – though the line “throw myself under the bus of your love” — totally a metaphor.
The writer of this song (me!) is an overthinker, foreseeing all the excitements and fears of falling in love and the practical outworkings of a marriage he hopes comes true for him.
Musically, this is one of my proudest accomplishments as a songwriter so far. Not only does it include an all-live all-star lineup of some of my favorite friends / session players in Hollywood (Christian Jacob, piano; Edwin Livingston, bass; Jake Reed, drums), I also got to collaborate with my fellow Berklee classmate Allen Carrescia, who played guitar and also mixed, mastered, and coproduced it.
